Summer School - Applied deep learning in bioinformatics

This course is an opportunity for you to learn and get hands on experience with data science techniques and how to apply these beyond the topics of CRISPR and network biology. The format will consist of an approximately equal mix of lectures and hands-on. 

DATE: from Sunday, August 6, 2023, to Thursday, August 10, 2023

VENUE: Univeristy of Copenhagen, Frederiksberg Campus.

LECTURES: Sampo Pyysalo (University of Turku), Arne Elofsson (Stockholm University), Ole Winther, Simon Rasmussen, Stefano Roncelli, Christian Anthon, Lars Juhl Jensen & Jan Gorodkin (University of Copenhagen)

TOPICS: The summer school will (amongst other) cover the following topics:

  • Textmining & Transformers
  • Language models for biological sequences
  • Variational autoencoders
  • Graphs & networks
  • Practical Applications
  • The format will consist of an approximately equal mix of lectures and hands-on exercises. 

PARTICIPANTS: Max. 30 talented MSc students, PhDs and postdocs who are already comfortable in programming. 

Price: O DKK. There is no course fee, but you must cover your own travel, accommodation and meal costs (expect those meals included in the programme). The course is run and hosted by the CRISPRnet project granted by the Novo Nordic Foundation.

STIPENDS: A handful of stipends are available (to cover travel and accommodation cost) for talented applicants, who could otherwise not afford to participate.

DEADLINES:

  • JUNE 18, 2023 - All registrations received by this date will be evaluated by the course organisers and max 30 selected for participation in the summerschool.
  • JUNE 23, 2023 - All registered who have been approved for participation in the summer school and recipients for stipends will receive a confirmation email.
